Boom-Bust Lifecycle of Most College Websites
We see it over and over again…
Following months (sometimes years) of hard work, you finally launch your school or department’s new website. There are lots of congratulatory emails and maybe even an announcement on social media. Everyone is happy. This is what’s know as the Excitement Phase.
Soon after launch, maybe even the next day, you notice something you would like to tweak. Worse, you begin receiving reports of things that are broken. You get requests for new features, but you’re too busy with just keeping the site running. Finally, you’re pulled to another project. We call this the Neglect Phase.
Neglect eventually turns to utter contempt and shame. Most development and design teams are familiar with this phase. It’s called the Redesign Phase.
It’s time to break the cycle.
